Welcome to the third season of Building Our Bundle! This season of Building Our Bundle, we will be focusing on emotional regulation and distress tolerance from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT skills) using a braided approach.
This week's episode grounded us in mindfulness and brought us into a bit of knowing about ourselves and each other. In this episode we share an overview of this season of BOB, give a brief teaching Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), explore mindfulness and radical acceptance, complete a mindfulness practice to bring us into our awareness of the present moment, and an activity to help us prepare for challenging situations ahead of time.
In this session, we will be talking about emotional regulation, a skill we can build to prevent and manage emotional upset. Using self-care strategies, we can ensure we stay in tune with our emotions and behave in ways that reflect our true selves. In this episode, we will provide an overview of emotions and emotion regulation, a teaching of a self-care skill (PLEASED Skill), a cultural interpretation through an Anishinaabe perspective and an activity to get you practicing self-care.
In this session, we will be talking about emotional regulation with ABC skills! This skill helps to set us up for success in managing our mood, emotions, and helps to bring in happiness and balance! In this episode learn an overview of ABC skills, how to apply ABC skills within our daily lives, and an activity to get you practising ABC skills to help regulate our emotions.
In this session, we will be talking about distress tolerance; a set of skill we can use when we are in distressful circumstances. In this episode learn more of an overview of distress tolerance, a teaching of a skill called REST, a cultural interpretation through an Anishinaabe perspective, and an activity to get you practicing REST to get through stressful situations.
In this session, we will be talking about distress tolerance; a set of skills we can use when we are in distressful circumstances. In particular, this episode explores the DBT (Dialectic Behaviour Therapy) skill: ACCEPTS which is an acronym for a set of distraction techniques that are meant to help us cope with distressing events. ACCEPTS Stands for: Activities, Contributing, Comparisons, Emotions, Pushing Away, Thoughts, and Sensations.
