We are an interdisciplinary team of Indigenous and allied individuals who are committed to supporting Indigenous youth. 


Our team is made of educators, social workers, youth workers, early childhood educators, as well as both undergraduate and Masters level students from a variety of fields.

Children's Program Facilitator

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Children's Program Facilitator to join our team at Finding Our Power Together. As a facilitator, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities for the Orange Heart Club after-school reconciliation program. This part-time role is based in Toronto and offers an exceptional opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of Indigenous children.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a culturally-sensitive and age-appropriate curriculum tailored to the needs of Indigenous children in the program.
  • Facilitate educational and recreational activities, fostering a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members, community partners, and families to ensure the program's success.
  • Monitor children's progress and well-being, while providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians, providing updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns.


Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, and reconciliation efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive space for all participants.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and grow in the role.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in education, social work, or a related field (current students welcome)
  • Experience working with Indigenous children and families.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

Summer Camp Counselor

Join Finding Our Power Together as a Summer Camp Counselor at our Cultural Healing camps in Southern Ontario. Help create a fun, safe, and enriching environment that fosters cultural connections and growth for Indigenous youth.



Responsibilities:

  • Lead culturally-sensitive and age-appropriate activities.
  • Supervise campers, ensuring safety and well-being.
  • Facilitate cultural learning experiences.
  • Foster positive relationships with campers and staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure camp success.


Requirements:

  • Aged 18-30 during the entire employment (June 26-August 29).
  • Full-time availability for the summer season.
  • Willingness to travel and work overnight at camp.
  • Experience with children/youth in camp, educational, or recreational settings.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree/diploma in education, social work, recreation, or related field.
  • Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

Finding Our Power Together offers student placement opportunities for individuals interested in learning more about Indigenous communities, mental health, and not-for-profit work. We have worked with undergraduate and masters level students from the following fields of study:  child and youth care, early childhood education, social work, nursing, and education students.

Finding Our Power Together relies heavily on the support of our community to promote programs and help us get the word out about the work we do! We are looking for volunteers to support with outreach and front line support for our Orange Heart Club Program, as well as support with community events.
